Backtrack How To Dongle

MILLION DOLLAR BABY (2004) Clint Eastwood

Several themes coexist with a master's amazing in this story of personal achievement, while getting the audience hooked and excited.

scion of a narrative and a purely classical realization, Clint Eastwood tells the story of direct, simple and human. And he does know how to play with appearances, leading the viewer to their land. Under all that background in boxing, which is to convey is just another thing , lead to another world ... The way to do it reminds me of the way that Hitchcock gave his film Psycho (1960) a 180 º (thus opening the door to modern cinema) to kill Janet Leigh, the protagonist in the first third of film. This preface was an excuse, a McGuffin to plunge into the real subject of the film, as the master of suspense wanted to tell the truth. Eastwood does something similar and completely deceives us, giving full meaning of what you have in a twist for nothing predictable in the last half hour of film. Boxing, therefore, is not the issue but support the excuse, in some ways the McGuffin, to express it.

coach played by Eastwood himself is actually a man with a past that he repents and pays the consequences in the present, subject already treated by the filmmaker in films like Unforgiven (1992) or the more recent Gran Torino (2008). This is where the figure comes Hillary Swank (magnificent, one of the most deserved Oscars in recent years), a poor girl whose only dream in life is to be a boxer. At first he is reluctant to train her, but just realizing that maybe making can redeem the ghosts that haunt him.

What is therefore Million Dollar Baby? Above all and foremost a story is something special about a "father" and a "daughter" on two characters who, for various reasons, they just need each other. It is beautiful to see how the story unfolds, and how is emerging between the two protagonists greater affection. Morgan Freeman in a key supporting role but the film is perfect, and cites one of the most beautiful phrases in the film, in the end, when he Eastwood's character says everything about what deserves worth fighting, if we are given a chance. Something like that is way more important than the outcome. Magnificent.

luxury screenwriter Paul Haggis's film, who returned to work with Eastwood in his films Letters from Iwo Jima (2007) and Flags of Our Fathers (2007), and has also amply demonstrated to be an excellent director in films like Crash (2006) or In the Valley of Elah (2008).

say that Million Dollar Baby is a good movie may sound like a cliché at this point. So I want to go further: it is one of the last masterpieces that has given the cinema. Only she could be beautiful and excellent epilogue to the invention that came back in 1895 and invented by the Lumiere brothers. In the group of the best films of the past history of cinema with works of filmmakers like Wong Kar-Wai, Coen Brothers, Ang Lee, Darren Aronofsky, Pedro Almodovar ... and other great postmodern. But the star of Eastwood's special. Always gives us a movie, usually a year, not surprising their expertise to tackle any genre, any story, and more graceful exit. In the latter, More life beyond (2010), dared with a history of supernatural dyes and returned to embroider. At this point you can no longer be required over the teacher, his work has been more than demonstrated, being as it is one of the best directors has given the film.
